Busan Gangalli Eobang Festival

Busan Gangalli Eobang Festival

Eobang was the term calling its fishing cooperative in Suyeong area. Eobang, the fishing cooperative taught fishermen new fishing techniques to encourage the fishery. Eobang encouraged singing songs to relieve people from stress of hard work during a group work and to increase efficiency by letting people work with songs telling of fishermen's feelings. Fishing activities of that time were reorganized to "Jwasuyeong Eobang Nori", which has been preserved and passed on until now as the important intangible cultural asset No. 62. [Festival] Lotus Latern Festival

The first post of our blog. hehe.

Anybody who are interested in Korean history would know that Buddhism has been greatly important to our culture and beliefs. This is shown in the festival of the month, the !! Today I'll introduce you the most amazing light shows of Korea.

Light shining through the Korean traditional paper, family, friends and couples taking pictures in front of the beautiful lights, dim and bright light glowing in the dark...

This festival was so amazing.
From different parts of Seoul, there were different kinds of activities and festivals.
For instance, In-sa-dong, a famous traditional path that symbolizes Korea, was the place for a colorful parade of lanterns! This parade was also in Dongdae-mun, probably the largest shopping plaza in Seoul.
Other than here, there were so many places that I can't even remember all the names..;)

You could make some real lanterns and take a look at the lantern exhibition as well!!
This, was the best festival to understand the REAL KOREAN TRADITION AND CULTURE.

Unfortunately, the festival was over yesterday.. for those who did not have a chance to see the wonderful lights, I bet there is always next time. :) (probably next year, too)

If you visit the homepage, there are so much info about the festival, so be sure to visit!

p.s. Next time I'll try to upload more photos...
